Dakalo Makhokha is a qualified and registered Candidate Natural scientist with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP), registration number 100137/14, in earth science.
Since 2003, Dakalo has been engaged in several community practices whose aim is crime prevention and keeping youth off the streets through activities like drama, poetry, dancing, singing, etc.
She was the Head of the school drama and traditional parade in 2004-2005; writer and director of school drama which was aired on the national radio (“Phala Phala FM”) in 2006, and was part of Tshivenda writers Association (TSHIWA); King Star Modelling Agency, Muratho Care and Art Production and is the Co-founder of the Multitalented Africans organisation, which is designed to revive youth and elders and help them to earn a living using their talents.
Dakalo was also a geology tutor from 2012-2014 at the University of Free State. She started her industrial career as a geology intern in 2014, and got promoted to Geologist at Phalaborwa Mining Company (PMC).
For the past four years she has worked in various operations and performed different roles in Magnetite hydro-mining; Vermiculite mining and processing; Copper exploration (development), mining, and grade control and quality assurance.
Dakalo is currently studying PGDip in Business Administration at UFS, and believes that education empowers people in personal development and brings about positive changes in the world. She is currently a Mining Geologist at PMC.
